CRSP History Informs Current Research Approach

Colorado State University received a five-year, $15 million Leader-with-Associate Award from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2010 to manage the Collaborative Research Support Program, Adapting Livestock Systems to Climate Change (Livestock-Climate Change CRSP).

The Livestock-Climate Change CRSP (LCC CRSP) receives funding under the authorization of Title XII of the International Development and Food Assistance Act of 1975 in order to achieve the mutual goals among nations of ensuring food security, human health, agricultural growth, trade expansion, and the wise and sustainable use of natural resources.

The new Livestock CRSP has its origins in the previous Global Livestock CRSP. Originally established in 1978 as the Small Ruminant CRSP (SR-CRSP), the Global Livestock CRSP was one of nine CRSP programs developed under Title XII. The Livestock-Climate Change CRSP builds on the successes of the previous GL-CRSP while addressing new and emerging challenges related to global climate change.
